John and Liz are California natives, with Liz born and raised in the East-Bay. Liz earned her Masters Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Marriage Counseling from SDSU. John was born in San Francisco and raised in San Rafael and Thousand Oaks, CA. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. The two met in college and have been together every since. The two have lived in Danville for over 30 years now, which is where they raised their two sons - Ben and Nick. They also have two grandchildren. 

John and Liz have always been big proponents of marriage and have worked hard to build a strong relationship. They are one of those rare couples who genuinely enjoy working together and using their skills to compliment one another. They have learned how to work together in their businesses and still maintain a fun, romantic marriage. In 2000 John and Liz started Embrace Marriage, a nonprofit organization that invested in both local and nationally-based families to support the strengthening of their marriages. They did everything from privately coaching couples to seminars, weekend marriage conferences, and radio guest appearances across the United States. 

During their tenure running Embrace Marriage, John and Liz decided that they also wanted to serve their community through real estate. Eventually, the two transitioned to running their real estate business - The Heywood Team - full time with their chief objective still being service to their community. As Danville locals who have seeing firsthand what living in such a wonderful location has done for them and their family, they love having the opportunity to support the dreams of others who wish to buy and sell real estate in the Bay Area. They are Westside Danville specialists, with nearly two decades of market experience specific to that area, but also sell throughout the 680/24 corridor. They also mentor and coach other young agents as they start their real estate careers. 

In their free time, John and Liz love to try new restaurants or frequent their favorites - Bridges and Revel. They can also be found cheering on the Giants and home games, or play a game of pickup Pickleball with friends at Crow Canyon Country Club. They love to hike in the beautiful hills surrounding Danville, and can be found dancing the night away whenever they get the chance. Liz is gifted with an artistic flair and eye for decor, excellent communication skills, and an ability to read between the lines. John has excellent negotiation skills, market expertise, and the ability to discern what both buyer and seller want. These combined skills make them a uniquely impactful real estate team and the go-to people for many looking to buy or sell in Danville and beyond.
