John and Liz are California natives, Liz was born and raised in the East Bay. Liz earned her Masters Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Marriage Counseling from SDSU. John was born in San Francisco and raised in San Rafael and Thousand Oaks, CA. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. The two met in college and have been together ever since. They have lived in Danville for over 30 years, which is where they raised their two sons - Ben and Nick - who have given them two grandchildren.

John and Liz have always been big proponents of marriage and have worked hard to build a strong relationship. They are one of those rare couples who genuinely enjoy working together and using their skills to compliment one another. Liz is gifted with an artistic flair and eye for decor, excellent communication skills, and an ability to read between the lines. John has excellent negotiation skills, market expertise, and the ability to discern what both buyer and seller want. These combined skills make them a uniquely impactful real estate team and the go-to people for many looking to buy or sell in Danville and the rest of the East Bay. They have learned how to work together in their businesses and still maintain a fun, romantic relationship. In 2000 John and Liz started Embrace Marriage, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building marriage and family relationships. This included private coaching for couples, seminars, weekend marriage conferences, and radio guest appearances across the United States.

During their tenure leading Embrace Marriage, John and Liz decided that they also wanted to serve their community by helping people buy and sell real estate. Eventually they transitioned to owning their own real estate business - The Heywood Team - full time with their chief objective still being service to their community. As Danville locals who have seen firsthand what living in such a wonderful location has done for them and their family, they love having the opportunity to support the dreams of others who want to enjoy life in the East Bay Area. John and Liz are Westside Danville specialists, with nearly two decades of market experience specific to that area, but sell throughout the 680/24 corridor. They also mentor and coach other new agents as they start their real estate careers.

In their free time, John and Liz are big foodies and can often be found dining with friends at new restaurants or frequenting their favorites - Bridges and Revel. They are also members of the Crow Canyon Country Club and enjoy working out, playing Pickleball, and an occasional game of Golf. They love to hike in the beautiful hills surrounding Danville and the East Bay, and can be found dancing the night away whenever they get the chance.
